OMG OMG OMG

Gavin walked last night. Honest-to-goodness, by himself, walked! He was standing at the corner of our hallway, and he looked at me and laughed. Then he just lets go of the wall, and takes 6 or 7 steps towards me...laughing the whole time! (I was on my couch, about 12 feet away). He did it one other time by himself last night, but then he decided (since we were trying to document it) that he didnt want to do it anymore. All day today he wanted to walk, but the moment I tried to get him to let go of my finger, he just looked at me and sat. He knew... Sometimes I get the feeling that he walks when I'm not looking, but he knows I want him to do it on his own, so he doesnt let me see.

I gotta tell you, though...it hurts my ever swelling uterus to have to bend, ever so slightly, at the waist. Every expert in every book, or any doctor I've ever seen, have all said to bend at the knees when you bend. I would like to see one of them try to bend at the knees when they walk with a not-so-sturdy 10 1/2 month old. Then they can tell me to bend at the knees when I bend...it's virtually impossible to do. And, as I said before, it hurts.

I had an appointment the other day..but it turned out that it was pretty much an appt to fill out paperwork, establish my due date (March 27) and make another appt for my real first appt. I had to have 5 vials of blood drawn, though. It sucked.

walkies..

Gavin is learning to walk. He likes to hold onto one finger and walk with me around the house. But when that doesnt work, I have to take him in the stroller for a walk. This is what happened today. So, being that it's only 5 something when we decided to go, I thought I should put Gavin's hat and sunglasses on him. HE FINALLY LEFT THEM ON! It made me soo happy.

Look how cute he is with them on! He was all about not letting me get a picture of him wearing them. And, the only way I could get him to keep them on was putting them on under the hat.

Sigh...Gavin likes to fall...and climb. That's not usually a good thing when it happens one right after the other. Then he gets clingy with no way to comfort him. He just wants to cry, or whine..whichever works better at that moment for him.

I have a dr. appt tomorrow! My first one! Yay!

Ok...it's official

I'm pregnant. And those of you who already figured it out, congrats! I dropped hints, of course. But, yesterday I went and had a final blood test done, and my levels have jumped...from 3.2 to 402.1. Huge jump, huh? So, I'm only about 5 weeks...but that's enough to make me tired, hungry and sick to my stomach, not necessarily in that order.

In other news, Russ is back from the field, and Gavin is soo excited. He just hasnt wanted to let daddy out of his sight at all yet. And the first thing he did when he saw Russ, was pull his shirt down and pull out his "shineys" (dog tags). I guess he missed those. You know how the experts all say, that with babies, especially Gavins age, they dont know object permanence? Gavin does. None of this "out of sight, out of mind" crap. Gavin knows where his toys are, all the time. He knows where they go when they are put away, and he knows when something isnt seen, to look for it. He has actually gotten quite mad at Russ when he forgets to put on his tags after a shower or something. He still looks, though.

Sorry, no pictures today.

It's been a long week...

...and it's not even over yet. Like I said before, Russ is out in the field. So, Gavin is all outta sorts since he hasnt seen daddy since, Sunday night? He was a pill today...it wasnt fun. He would scream for me to pick him up, and the second I did, he would scream for me to put him down. Baby logic....doesnt make sense. So then, in one of the rare moments when he decided to play, he fell. Not once, not twice, but three times. And all three times he hit a different part of his head on the coffee table...different parts. The first time, he caught his forehead on one of the few corners (Im still not sure how that worked out, but that's Gavin for you). The second time, he did some weird spin thing, and got the back of his head on the bottom. And the third time, he caught his eye on the handle for the drawer. So, he's got a bruise in the middle of his forehead, and quite possibly the back of his head. But the worst part is he's got the HUGE purple bruise in his eyebrow, and a cut under his eye. Ok, so it's not that big, and I'm probably just being dramatic, but it was a horrible moment for me. I couldnt stop him from falling, I could only watch in slow motion as it happened. And then there was no consoling him afterwards...he just wanted to cry. Not that I blame him, so did I. I feel that if I let some stranger look at him long enough, they'll think I'm abusing the poor boy. If you look, you can kinda see the bruise on his forehead. Man...it was a heck of a day. The only time he was happy, we werent in the house. That'll teach me.
On the plus side, Russ comes home sometime tomorrow. He said before 5. I hope it's really early. And, I have to go to the hospital for some lab work, the nurse said the results should be in in about 2 hours. So, hopefully things will go well. Again, more on the later..possibly tomorrow

I have joined the blog revolution...

So, Joni has a blog, Mom has a blog, and Mandy just got one...so I figure, why not? This way mom will always know what's going on with ALL her grandkids, and so can all the other family members I never talk to. So, I will fill you in on the happenings in the Brown household.
Russell is off doing a field exercise, he wont be back til friday. This is going to be a long week for me and the Gavman. Once he's home from that, he'll be around for a few weeks, and then it's off to WLC (warrior leadership course, where you go to learn how to be an NCO). He'll be gone for 15 days there. Oh well.

I am doing well...feeling a bit sick...but that's ok. It'll go away soon enough. More on that later.

Gavin is HUGE! He's 10 1/2 months now, he's got 6 teeth, and is just a bundle of energy. He keeps me on my toes. He's walking, holding onto just one of my hands, as opposed to both. He's climbing up walls and lifting himself clear off the ground using the stereo. He loves to fly...as you will see in the pictures. He's a creature of habit (which is frustrating at times...he knows when he's supposed to be down for a nap, and makes a fuss if you dont comply). He loves his solid foods...he's a meat boy. Loves hot dogs and sausages and the like. Its fun to watch him eat, he likes to screach at me when his tray is empty and there is still food on his plate. He knows...he just knows. He plays catch, and has quite an arm on him. He's been known to throw his paccy clear across my living room, into the dining room. Crazy. Monkey. Boy.

I feel that I should tell you, that since I dont reliably have internet, I wont update consistantly. I'm hoping to remedy that soon, though.
